Chandelier Springs is a sustainable, mostly off grid, WWOOF farm. We have been hosts for a little more than three years. Many of the guests that visit us are first time wwoofers and new to organic farming. Our hope is that after a couple weeks, wwoofers keep motivated and start a garden at home. Also, it is popular for wwoofers to continue wwoofing up the coast and get a big picture of the organic farm movement.
The wwoofers in the photo are preparing potting soil (canning mix) for 1 gallon pots. The recipe is composted horse manure, coir fiber, worm castings, and a lot of water. Seedling are ready for transplant. These potted transplants will mature in the green house before planting them in the gardens. It is a lot of work but we have found the percentage of survival rates warrant the effort.
